OVERVIEW 1. Carajás = large district on a world scale. Its metal production may still grow in number, size & type of deposits. 2. LOGEMIN developed a model to find such districts 3. Main commodities include Fe, Cu, Au, Ni, Mn, PGEs, U, REEs. 4. Main deposit types are IOCG & layered mafic intrusions. 5. Clearly an anorogenic ring complex cluster. 4 distinct overprinted ARCC events: 3 Archean, 1 PaleoProterozoic. Last 3 = mnzd. FeOx mnzn in IOCG origin PaleoProterozoic event. 6. Anorogenic alkali granite, granite & gabbroids are the dominant intrusive rock types (bimodal). 7. Some areas display strong hydrothermal alteration. 8. Granitoids, FeOx bodies & hydrothermal brecciation are common denominators in most IOCG deposits.
