ABSTRACT
The Bogotá Fault is a thrust fault that strikes N10ºE and dips 15º to 25º E. It may be followed for 107 km on surface or underground, between Gallo River, in the Páramo de Sumapaz to the south, and the Teusacá River to the north. The fault borders the western limit of the Bogotá Anticline, and is intimately related to its development. The Bogotá Fault develops from a sole detachment along the base of the Cretaceous column; by exageration of the anticlinal fold, the fault eventually cuts its western flank. Glacial deposits of the El Paraíso neighborhood (Quaternary, Fuchense), cover
the Guadalupe Formation, the Bogotá Fault and the Guaduas Formation. Pleistocene deposits are not displaced by the fault, indicating that the Bogota Fault is inactive.

Key words: Bogota Fault; Bogota Anticline; neotectonic activity, glacial deposits, fluvial-gracial deposits.
